Last week, I went to a demolition conference with my wife in Phoenix. I didn't actually attend the expo, but I got to join the after-party. These guys had some stories!
They talked about everything from trying to get through TSA security checkpoints with explosives residue on them, to managing the stress of bringing down a fragile building without damaging anything around it.
These guys live different lives than most people. Their jobs have millions of dollars on the line, even human life. They travel sometimes four days a week and are gone for weeks at a time.
Behind their ability to precisely detonate a series of shape charges that expertly topple a building into a 100-foot safety zone are the engineers who calculate and model exactly where to place those cuts.

Every business collects data that's unique to the challenges they face. They have stories of late nights and intense transformations that resulted in an outcome. They have stories of overwhelm, overcoming, overcorrecting, and overjoy. Those stories, those lessons, and that journey are so valuable to other people that they'll pay to consume it.
My best education came when I was experiencing the problem and had to be resourceful to solve it. Within your data is a collection of experiences that prove your ability to overcome a problem. Even expressing the ways not to do something is just as valuable as the shortcut answer to get to the desired result.
Your data, if properly categorized and saved, is a treasure trove of these experiences that, when told correctly, can generate additional cash for you or your business.
In today's environment, there are many ways to monetize stories and lessons. You just have to find the best way to do it for your time and your type of story. A great starting point for many people is to create a newsletter for your business. A newsletter is great because you can get feedback frequently and easily. It's also a low-cost way to build an audience of people who are interested in the subject you're speaking on.
When I am collecting stories throughout my busy day, I use Wispr Flow in Apple Notes.
Better prompts. Better AI output.
AI gets smarter when your input is complete. Wispr Flow helps you think out loud and capture full context by voice, then turns that speech into a clean, structured prompt you can paste into ChatGPT, Claude, or any assistant. No more chopping up thoughts into typed paragraphs. Preserve constraints, examples, edge cases, and tone by speaking them once. The result is faster iteration, more precise outputs, and less time re-prompting. Try Wispr Flow for AI or see a 30-second demo.
I know you think your life and your industry is boring, I hear it from everyone. However, what you do is unique to many people. They would love to understand what it’s like getting your college degree, or raising 3 kids while working, or all of the tax filing mistakes people make.
If you can tell stories from your data, you can monetize your work life through free and exclusive content. Find your audience, by posting on social media, creating a newsletter, and eventually charging other people to learn from you.
You make money because you’re good at what you do, now make money teaching others what you’ve done.
Until next week,
